School Safety
SAFETY, SECURITY AND MENTAL HEALTH
SEE SOMETHING, HEAR SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING
The Villages Charter School (VCS) will share, inform, and update students, staff, parents, and the community of timely information in the area of safety and security and mental health services. VCS strives to provide a high quality education, with a dedicated and concerned staff, in a safe, secure, worry-free environment. Safety is our top priority.
The Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act of 2018 mandated a variety of safety, security, and mental health requirements for every public school in Florida. The Villages Charter School is in compliance now, and already had many of these requirements in place prior to the new law. Some upgrades, expansions, and additions such as additional School Resources Officers (SROs) and interior and exterior cameras have been put in place. The school is constantly looking at new products, ideas, and “best practices” to provide an even safer environment.
The Villages Charter School believes in implementing the evidence-based Multi-Tiered System of Support/Response to intervention model so all students’ mental health needs and concerns are met and are provided with proactive, timely, and evidence-based interventions. Please contact your child’s school counselor for any questions or concerns.
School safety is about being aware, being prepared, and being alert.
