Welcome to physical education at The Villages Charter School. This year I will be working at both the Primary Center and the 4th and 5th Grade Center where your child will experience fitness and fun. Your child and I will work together to set goals and learn more about becoming physically fit. Students come to PE each day for 30 minutes.
Primary Center: At the primary center we are in our Throwing and Catching unit. Students will be working as individuals and with partners to improve their skills in overhand and underhand throwing. They will practice tossing and catching objects of various sizes, weights, and shapes including: yarn balls, rhino skin balls, scarves, beanbags, and wiffle balls. Objectives for this unit include: cooperation, spatial awareness, underhand throwing, overhand throwing, throwing for distance, throwing for accuracy, catchng a self-tossed object, catching an object in their air, and catching an object from a bounce.
4th and 5th Grade Center: At the 4th and 5th Grade center we are in our Frisbee Golf unit. In this unit students will learn proper skills and techniques for throwing a frisbee for both distance and accuracy. They will take part in several game situation activities that will allow them to practice their Frisbee throwng skills. As a culminating activity, students will play a full 18-hole Frisbee golf course set up on Tatonka field! We will also be continuing to include fitness related activities to help students improve their flexibility, speed, agility, muscular strength, and endurance.
