On behalf of The Villages High School Athletic Department, we welcome each and every student to join our sports programs. We highly encourage all of our students to take part in this exciting opportunity.
Through the years, research has shown that teenagers that are involved in athletics have gone on to enjoy a successful life. Athletics has paved a way for many young people. It has been an avenue that has allowed athletes to obtain self-discipline and self-control. It can be a tool that teaches them how to build team morale.
Before each season of a student's chosen sport, the head coach will have a player/parent meeting to discuss eligibility requirements and expectations for each parent and player. Physical examinations and fees that might pertain to the sport will also be discussed.
We expect our student-athletes to be role models in the classroom and off the playing field. We believe our athletes will set the tone for our student body, and therefore, we will hold our athletes to a high standard. As our student population grows, so will our athletic programs. We expect our student-athletes to excel in the classroom and they are to maintain at least a 2.0 grade point average each semester to be eligible to participate. Education is our most important goal as a student-athlete.
There's no doubt that VHS is a very special place to learn as well as compete. Please join the athletic department and myself as we endeavor to mold these young athletes into men and women of strong character, ready to face a future full of promise.
