I am excited to start this new school year at the Villages Charter High School as the AP Commuter Science and Computer Science Academy teacher. As a bit of background and introduction, I have a Master of Science degree from Boston University in Computer Information Systems, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology. In addition, I am Certified Project Management Professional and I hold a Six Sigma Certification. I have 30 years of industry experience and 10 years of experience as an Adjunct Computer Science college professor.
This year I will be teaching AP Computer Science Principles, Programming Essentials, Database Essentials, and WEB Technologies.
Each student will need to have the following items.
100 page single subject college ruled notebook (One notebook for each Academy course)
16GB Thumb Drive
1 8oz bottle of hand sanitizer (pump bottle) Purell, GermX, or similar brand (to be left in the classroom)
To facilitate a great learning experience, this year each student will be working in our newly equipped Computer Science Lab.
Students in the Programming Essentials Course will be learning the Java Programming language. For those of you who are taking Database Essentials, we will be using both MS Access and MS SQL Server as our learning platforms. The WEB Technology students will be developing their own websites and publishing those sites on our new WEB server. For you AP Computer Science Principle students, you will be programming in HTML and Java Script.
I am looking forward to seeing each and every one of you on August 9th.
