Welcome to Spanish!  I am Mrs. Sandra Carrión and I am very happy to be your Spanish instructor this year!  I am a native of Canada, but I have lived in the United States since I was 5 years old. My family is from Scotland originally but I have lived in Toronto, California, New York, Iowa (I went to Iowa State University for my B.A. in Spanish) and South Florida (I earned my M.A. in Hispanic Studies at Florida International University, Miami).  I lived in South Florida for 32 years and there I met my late husband (born in NY but of Puerto Rican heritage) and had my son, now 26 and a Geometry teacher for Florida Virtual School (FLVS).

I have worked at VHS for 7 years and now begin my 8th year here and my 40th year as a Spanish teacher!  I began studying Spanish like most of you in 7th grade, and loved it so much that I continue to study it and teach it 48 years later! I hope that you too develop a love for this beautiful language and enjoy your time in my class!

You can reach me at Sandra.Carrion@tvcs.org and I will have classroom office time every afternoon from 2:45-3:30 (unless we have a faculty meeting) for questions, tutoring, make-up quizzes/tests,    SPN 1120 office hours, questions about grades, and whatever else you may need.

Please check the Google classroom you are assigned to everyday (and, especially if you are absent) for assignments, updates, calendar reminders, homework or to work on assignments when you are absent for the day. Working within the Google classroom will be a learning curve for all of us but just as I will help you, YOU will help me! :)

Now, as we say in Spanish: ¡Manos a la obra!  (Let’s get busy!)
