Welcome to 7th Grade Civics and Economics! Brace yourself for a challenging second semester of what we hope will contain many positive educational experiences for you. Here's where you begin to understand and improve the world!
Students are starting a unit that introduces them to the American Legal System. That unit will culminate in a mock criminal trial experience in our classroom. Students will also hear their peers present on significant federal laws that were passed in our history and landmark cases that were ruled by our Highest Court. A few classes will also witness students engaging in a two on two moderated, researched, and timed debate over social and political issues.
Here is a link to the state website giving details for the African American State Essay Contest:
Civics tutoring will be available for struggling students in room 124 from 3:30 - 4:00 just about every other Wednesday. It is recommended that struggling students attend these tutoring sessions in an effort to raise their low Civics average. Here are the dates for the second semester: 1/18, 2/1, 2/15, 3/1, 4/5, and 4/19, 5/3, and 5/17.
*The online textbook can now be accessed through Clever. Find the "Ed" app. You may need to switch over the textbook from the World History book from last year to Florida Civics by hitting the drop down arrow after clicking on the "Discover" tab.
