Thank you for stopping by my page.  Our class time is filled with many great learning experiences for the novice and experienced alike.  Students will be focusing on the below topics in this course.

  1. ICT - Students will complete and earn certifications in the following three ICT areas. The modules focus on key skill sets within a given area of technology and through the use of online demonstrations, digital activities and assessments, coupled with external links to deepen knowledge provide a complete learning environment and experience." Upon passing each exam the student will earn a Digital Tool Certificate for the technology. Each suite is aligned to Common Core technology-oriented standards and NAEP standards for Information and Communication Technology.
    • CyberSecurity - Covers objectives such as demonstrating knowledge of Internet safety practices and policies, being able to combat risks related to online social and recreational activities, understanding ethical and legal issues related to content found on the Internet, solving security threats to computer systems, and performing countermeasures to secure a computer.
    • Communications - Objectives cover domains such as fundamentals of effective communication in a technological society, including information search methodologies, email clients, SMS text messaging, Skype, wikis and social media.
    • Spreadsheets (Supplemented with Google Sheets) - Objectives cover developing and applying fundamental spreadsheet skills, demonstrating proficiency in using moderately complex spreadsheet tools such as tables and charts, and demonstrating proficiency in using complex spreadsheet tools such as formulas and functions.
  2. CodeHS
    • Introduction to Programming with Karel  - Teaches students the basics of programming by giving commands to a computer just like you give commands to a dog.  Students write and run programs in the browser using the CodeHS online editor.  Students will be able to write both text based and block based programs in Karel. This program is designed for complete beginners with no previous background in computer science.  The course is highly visual, dynamic, and interactive, making it engaging for those new to computer science.
  3. Keyboarding - Students will begin class with daily Bell Ringers and will oftentimes be typing related to reinforce their keyboarding skills.
    • We will use a variety of sites including the ones listed below:
      • Keybr.com
      • TypingTest.com
      • RataType.com
