WELCOME TO COMPUTER SCIENCE DISCOVERIES 1 (6th and 7th Grade)

6th GRADE COURSE DESCRIPTION 

In this course, students will develop proper keyboarding skills, become more proficient navigating through Google Classroom, Gmail, Calendar, Drive and Docs, learn the importance of internet safety and will also be introduced to basic HTML language used to make web pages.

APPLICATIONS

Students will use the following applications:

  • EduTyping 
  • Google: Classroom, Gmail, Calendar, Drive and Docs 
  • UCertify - ICT Word Processing Essentials
  • UCertify - ICT CyberSecurity Essentials
  • Khan Academy

7th GRADE COURSE DESCRIPTION 

In this course, students will continue to develop the proper keyboarding skills, complete coursework and earn middle school industry certifications in computing, spreadsheets and communications. Students will also learn to build real world applications and more through Code.org. 

APPLICATIONS

Students will use the following applications:

  • Typing.com 
  • UCertify - ICT Computing Essentials
  • UCertify - ICT Spreadsheets Essentials
  • UCertify - ICT Communications Essentials

SUPPLIES - 6th and 7th Grade

  • Wired earbuds or headsets
