I look forward to a productive school year with all my math classes.
YES, students are permitted to use calculators (TI-30Xa Texas Instruments) this school year. BUT, there will be times that calculators will NOT be permitted. The FSA (Florida State Assessment) will assess students with and without use of calculators.
Our 7th grade math textbooks are consumable (students can write in them). These books will stay in the classroom. The textbook consists of 10 chapters that are separated into 5 units:
Unit 1 -- Ratios and Proportional Relationships
Unit 2 – The Number System
Unit 3 – Expressions and Equations
Unit 4 – Geometry
Unit 5 – Statistics and Probability
Good News! Math homework assignments will be completed in the classroom. Instead, our math classes will be doing a “flipped classroom”. Students will watch a teacher-made video lesson. The video lesson will be assigned the day before it’s reviewed in class and completed in class. The students will take notes and answer approximately 3 questions from the video lesson.
