VCS Earns School of Excellence Designation!

The Villages Charter School has again earned a School of Excellence designation for the 2020-2021 school year based upon academic data from the past three school years. The Florida State Board of Education announced the list of schools in a press release today (10/22/21). See the announcement below.

Updated VCS Safety Protocols 9.22.21

VCS Families,

On Wednesday, September 22, 2021 the Florida Surgeon General signed Florida Department of Health Emergency Rule 64DER21-15. This new rule changed the options for parents of students that have been in contact with a positive COVID-19 case. Under the new guidelines, students who have been exposed to COVID-19 but remain asymptomatic will no longer be forced to quarantine.

This new rule along with the Florida Department of Health and the Florida Department of Education executive orders regarding COVID-19 have now been incorporated into the 21-22 VCS Protocols 9.22.21. After reviewing those rules and orders with local health officials, VCS has adopted updated health and safety protocols.

Please see two documents below: 21-22 VCS Protocols 9.22.21 (the VCS plan) and FL Health-Safety Rules - Orders 9.22.21 (a combined document of Gov. DeSantis’ Executive Order Number 21-175, Florida Department of Health Emergency Rule 64DER21-15, Florida Department of Education Emergency Rule 6AER21-01 and Florida Department of Education Emergency Rule 6AER21-02).

Buffalo Scholarship Foundation Partners with Citizens First Bank

VCS, Buffalo Scholarship Foundation (BSF) and Citizens First Bank have partnered on a unique fundraiser to benefit VHS graduates. The "Buffalo Charity Checking" account benefits BSF. To learn more see the PDF below and click here watch a short video. Go Buffalo!

Buffalo Scholarship Foundation Partners with Amazon

Buffalo Scholarship Foundation has partnered with the Amazon Smile program.

Six years ago, the Buffalo Scholarship Foundation made a pledge (called the Buffalo Promise) that beginning with the VHS graduating class of 2023 that BSF would award every graduating senior a post-secondary scholarship. The BSF Board is finalizing the guidelines and award amounts and those will be released soon.

Since 2006, BSF has awarded 790 deserving VHS grads over $1.4 million dollars. This new Buffalo Promise along with an ever growing senior class require a significant increase in available funds each spring. If you shop on Amazon you can help us reach our goals. See the "Amazon Smile" program on the BSF website for details.

The Villages Charter School Is Growing

The Villages Daily Sun provides lots of information about a new world class development along CR 470 in Sumter County. You can learn more about the future of Villages' neighborhoods, cool shopping and dining venues, family housing, a state of the art medical complex and.... a new K-8 building and a new 9-12 high school!

The Villages Introduces Middleton

The Villages just shared some exciting news in The Villages Daily Sun and Vmail about an all-new family-friendly community designed for the folks that serve the residents of The Villages. In addition, they also shared a few more details on the future expansion of The Villages Charter School. If you have not already had the chance, I invite you to take a moment to watch the video that was shared as well as read the newspaper insert.

As you may be aware, the expansion of The Villages Charter School with an additional K-8 Campus and an all-new high school campus gives us the opportunity to continue to provide a quality education to the families of The Villages current and future employees, business partners and on-property businesses that serve the residents of The Villages community.

You will likely be excited and may even have a few questions about the new schools and what this means for your kiddos.  You may be wondering about which campus your child will attend, how transportation, traffic and car lines will be handled. In the coming months, we’ll ask for your input, track your frequently asked questions, keep you updated on the progress and plans, and bring you the answers to these questions and more as we work towards a fall of 2023 opening.
