At The Villages High School (VHS), the school counseling program supports students in achieving their post-secondary goals by creating a nurturing environment and assisting students and families in making well-informed decisions about their futures.

In line with the Florida School Counseling standards and the national standards of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), we provide a comprehensive guidance and counseling program that plays a vital role in our school’s overall educational experience. VHS students can explore various academic and career options through our diverse course offerings, CTE programs, and academies. We offer tailored student planning sessions focused on academic program planning and aligning activities with both short-term and long-term objectives.

We're Here to Help

Our responsive services encompass counseling, consultations with school staff and families, referrals, mediation, and information sharing. Moreover, we deliver a guidance curriculum designed to address appropriate grade-level goals through individual and classroom presentations.

Academic Planning

With a goal of producing college and career ready graduates, VHS offers students a variety of Career and Technical Education Pathways as well as Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment Courses through a partnership with Lake Sumter State College. We invite you to explore the VHS Course Curriculum Guide and VHS Academies (11th & 12th grade students only) and as always, contact your school counselor for any questions.

College & Career Expo

Students are invited to attend the annual VHS College and Career Expo each year, enabling them to network with local industry leaders and college representatives. Hundreds of booths are available with universities, businesses and recruiters available to share insight, answer questions, and recruit potential employees and servicemen and women.

Mental Health & Wellness

Students who are mentally healthy tend to arrive at school prepared to learn, actively participate in school activities, maintain supportive relationships with adults and peers, utilize effective problem-solving skills, display non-aggressive behaviors, and contribute to a positive school atmosphere.

As children and adolescents spend most of their time in educational settings, schools hold a crucial responsibility in supporting these students by offering a safe, non-stigmatizing, and nurturing environment. Through school-based mental health programs, children, youth, and families can benefit from access to prevention, early intervention, and treatment services.
