The Villages Charter Middle School (TVCMS) performing arts students explore their passion for the arts through study and application of their chosen concentration. Daily classroom instruction and a variety of opportunities to take to the stage provide our performing arts students with a rich and engaging environment to discover and develop their talents.
Our band, jazz ensemble, and choir students participate in district and state Musical Performance Assessments (MPA), consistently earning multiple Superior ratings for their adjudication. These talented TVCMS performing arts students represent our school well with top ratings and performances in the annual Music in the Parks festival.
Students learn the fundamentals of instrumental music performance in our beginning, intermediate, advanced or jazz band ensembles. From music theory and notation to understanding musical elements, students grow in their musicianship and ability to perform as part of a cohesive group. Performances include the winter and spring concerts, concert and jazz Musical Performance Assessments (MPA), and the annual Music in the Parks trip.
Students develop their singing voices and grow in their musicianship as they learn sight-reading literacy, vocabulary, and performance skills with our chorus ensembles. Dance students of all skills levels develop dance technique and skills as they study various genres, including ballet, jazz, hip-hop, and contemporary. Dancers are challenged to develop critical and creative thinking through preparing pieces for performance settings including the annual Student Choreography Showcase and Spring Dance Concert
Students develop their acting, vocal performance, and staging skills as they explore the evolution of music in theater from ancient Greece to modern Broadway through age-appropriate literature. These talented performers take to the stage for in-school performances for their peers and annual musical productions are hosted on the big stage for parents and the community.
