Our high school students can discover meaningful ways to get involved through community service. Participating in volunteer programs allows you to serve others and discover your passions. When deciding how best to help, we encourage you to spend time reflecting on what inspires you the most. Choosing to volunteer in an area that you care about will enable you to grow that passion and gain a sense of satisfaction in giving back.
The Villages High School (VHS) students are eligible to log community service hours beginning in the summer before 9th grade. To support the spirit of volunteerism it is recommended that VHS students accumulate a minimum of 150 hours of service to their school and/or community in order to be eligible to apply to The Buffalo Scholarship Foundation and to qualify for The Buffalo Promise. Please submit all completed forms to Chana Paxton in our Student Services office.
Students may now use paid work hours in lieu of community service hours, or combine service and paid work hours. All volunteer or paid work hours need to be documented in writing. Paid hours must be completed with an organization or business where they can be verified. Separate Service Logs must be completed for each organization or business. Please refer to your VHS Student Handbook below for additional eligibility requirements.
Please submit all completed forms to Student Services:
Community service hours and/or working hours must be completed and submitted by April 1st to be considered for end of year awards, graduation cords, The Buffalo Scholarship Foundation and other additional scholarships.
